Overview
Inspect and verify road/bridge construction work, testing, and compliance with plans.

Tasks
-Verify that work is performed safely and in accordance with the project plans and specifications. -Perform a wide variety of standardized and non-standardized tests and assignments in compiling, analyzing, computing, editing and processing field data. -Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. -Support senior project inspectors in functional areas such as construction inspection, surveying and material sampling and testing. -Examine and interpret construction plans, schedules and quantities.

What You Bring
-Ability to perform physical activities required of the testing and inspection procedures including squatting, bending, lifting, climbing and traversing difficult terrain. -General awareness of construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, process, methods and techniques. -Ability to work independently under supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives. -High School Diploma. -Ability to read and interpret construction plans. -Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. -Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools. -Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies. -General awareness of relevant construction codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. -Associate’s Degree in closely related discipline is preferred. -Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience. -Ability to keep accurate records and compute field data. -The ability to attain the following certifications within 90 days +/- or as class scheduling allows: NCDOT Concrete Field Technician certification, NCDOT Conventional Density certification, Level II Erosion & Sediment Control/Storm water certification, NCDOT QMS Roadway Technician certification, NCDOT ABC and Borrow Pit Sampling certification -Good communication skills, both oral and written. -Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. -3 years of road and bridge construction inspection and testing experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Engineering Interns (EI) may be eligible for this position without experience. -Basic computer skills.
