Lead Estimator

Oversee and manage construction project estimates, mentor staff, and coordinate bid processes.

Tasks

-Sets up and conducts GO / NO GO for Swinerton self-perform trades -Draft the first pass at General Conditions and General Requirements -Review plans and specifications -Prepare subcontractors bid list -Leads and/or participates in bid day compilation -Generates scope sheets for all CSI divisions -Prepare conceptual estimates -Supports post-bid buyouts (as applicable) -Train and develop Intern and Interim Project Engineers -Can review, prepare, and review others’ quantity take-offs -Is a mentor to one or more estimating staff -Prepares customized subcontracting bidders list(s) to the correct type of job -Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and material pricing -Review subcontractor prequalification on prospective trade partners -Simultaneously leads one or more estimate/budget/pursuit and in addition has capacity be support others on estimating pursuits -Supports and trains estimating staff (as applicable) -Set-up and review General Conditions and General Requirements with the Operations team -Follows bid schedule and can realign deliverable dates with minimal impact, through the use and management of the Estimate Checklist -Assist jobsite staff with estimating support -Builds consensus on applied fee strategy

What You Bring

-Ability to read and understand specifications, drawings, and BIM Models. -Can generate high level VE/VM log with accuracy -Ability to use all estimating software such as Excel, Bluebeam, Revit, Destini, or other programs to complete daily duties -Can quickly and accurately diagnose error, scope, exclusions in subcontractor estimates -Maintains great relationship with trade partners -Working knowledge of current construction costs and principles -Ability to make accurate judgements and calculate associated risks -Minimum 3 years estimating or related experience -Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
