Tasks

-Making payment recommendations to Contract Administrator and client staff; -Construction Management: Provide operational support services and sometimes act as first-line supervisor of an area of a construction project. Involves using existing systems and protocols. -Completing day-to-day inspections of Highway / Road / Bridge projects in accordance with client terms of reference and manuals; -Operational Compliance: Identify, within the team, instances of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these instances and escalating issues as appropriate. -Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate. -Monitoring contractor work for compliance with applicable safety and environmental legislation; -External Communications: Help others get the most out of external communications systems by offering support and advice. -Monitoring contractor work for compliance with contract specifications; -Mentoring junior staff; -Making recommendations / proposing solutions for emerging project issues; -Leadership and Direction: Explain the local action plan, to support team members in their understanding of what needs to be done, and how this relates to the broader business plan and the organization's strategy, mission, and vision; motivate people to achieve local business goals. -Taking action, in consultation with Contract Administrator and in accordance with contract requirements, when non-conformances are observed; -Performance Management: Respond to personal objectives and use performance management systems to improve personal performance; or monitor the performance of the team, allocate work and review completion, take appropriate corrective action to ensure timeliness and quality, and contribute to formal individual performance management and appraisal. -Work Scheduling and Allocation: Assign short-term work schedules to a team of subordinates in order to achieve expectations while following established timelines. -Quality Assurance: Plan and coordinate testing and inspection of products and processes. Implement corrective actions or continuous improvement initiatives and monitor them to make sure they are effective. -Organizational Capability Building: Provide coaching to team members to develop their skills. -Daily completion of project records / diary entries;

What You Bring

-Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s licence; -Working safely and observing / working in conformance with GHD’s Behaviour-Based Safety culture; -Use of the Ministry of Transportation Web-Based Contract Management System on MTO assignments; -Minimum 5 years' experience; -OACETT rcsi designation, or PEO EIT designation; -Past experience in grading, asphalt, and concrete work on greater than three transportation projects is considered an asset; -Sound judgment and decisiveness;

-Working nights, weekends, extended shifts; -Working overtime hours as necessary. Work is seasonal in nature and will likely involve greater hours of work in summer than in winter months;
