The Role

Overview

Oversee cost measurement, valuations, contracts, and risk for large capital projects.

Tasks

-Prepares and submits estimates for construction and development work. -Provides advice on contractual claims and negotiations. -Manages, evaluates, and certifies variations/change orders. -Monitors contract compliance against requirements. -Works closely with field staff and contractors. -Completes internal and external reporting throughout the lifecycle of the project. -Administers and co-ordinates all types of construction and development projects, including contracts and sub-contracts, construction progress schedules, cost control systems, and work measurements. -Identifies potential risks and evaluates option for control. -Provides advice on construction cost and strategic planning to management and other project stakeholders. -Interprets tender documents, specifications, general conditions, and other areas of the contract and forms of contracts. -Researches, negotiates, and supports dispute resolution activities. -Develops progress reporting systems. -Performs site physical progress measurement, including verification and validation of quantities. -Establishes Rules of Credit for each sub-component. -Streamlines the progress measurement process on site. -Prepares and submits interim valuations.

What You Bring

-Degree in Engineering such as Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering will also be considered. -Preferred experience in Database Management. -PQS (Professional Quantity Surveyor) designation is preferred, or the willingness and ability to obtain the same; Active member of CIQS (Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveying) or RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors). -Expert knowledge of construction costs and contracts. -Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in large capital project management. -Strong business and market acumen related to the construction industry. -Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or Business Administration. -Understands and provides input to the engineering and commercial aspects of multiple sub projects. -Conversant with the planning and design of equipment/material procurement and construction processes required to deliver major capital projects. -Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills. Inspires trust in challenging situations, navigating ambiguity adeptly.
