The Role

Overview

Conduct environmental assessments, NEPA documentation, wetlands, GIS, and client coordination.

Tasks

-Collect and compile geographic information for project site(s) including, but not limited to, use of global positioning system (GPS) instruments -Review interim draft and final reports, mapping, plans and computations for completeness and accuracy prior to every submittal to the Project Manager -Review and understand Company and Department Quality Assurance and Quality Control guidelines to ensure each work product meets the highest professional standards and follows the established quality procedures -Analyze samples, surveys, and other information to identify and assess impacts to the natural and human environment and identify mechanisms to avoid, minimize or mitigate for impacts -Perform field data collection for environmental investigations and natural resource surveys -Collect and compile environmental data from samples of soil, water, and other materials for analysis -Assist in the planning and execution of public participation and outreach for projects, including but not limited to preparation of legal notices, preparation and delivery of presentations to the general public, governmental officials, and businesses regarding environmental impacts -Provide support for business development sales force -Preparation of maps depicting environmental data collected, including development of project-specific maps utilizing geographic information system (GIS) software -Coordinate regularly with applicable government agencies to identify natural and socio-economic resources potentially affected by assigned projects -Respond to regulatory agency comments and problems as quickly as possible -Assist in development and writing of proposals for new business -Maintain positive relationships with clients to assist in resolving project questions such as project scope, environmental procedures, and schedule -Assist in identifying new opportunities with existing and potential clients -Develop plans, technical reports and/or permit applications to document impacts to the natural or human environment -As directed by the Project Manager, review work performed by other departments and/or sub-consultants to insure satisfactory performance

What You Bring

-Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or other related field -Understand and maintain proficiency with environmental regulations applicable to the development of transportation and other civil works projects -Proficient in MS Office applications -2-4 years of relevant work experience in consulting or regulatory environment, in the environmental science field -Experience with ARC GIS preferred -Strong team player with effective internal & external communication skills -Ability to work in variable conditions, including uneven ground and access to remote sites -Certified in FHWA/INDOT NEPA -Ability to work well and self-motivate in a collaborative team environment
