Overview

Create/substation design drawings, estimates, and support engineering using CAD tools.

Tasks

-Support engineers to assemble Conceptual Engineering Packages for projects. -Compare the Success Enterprise database with Sage database to make sure the data is transferred correctly. -Create project cost estimates using material and labor costing database. -Participate in site visits to collect data and support the construction group and/or asset owners. -Create and/or modify Substation physical design drawings for substation projects including the conceptual General Arrangements and one-line diagrams. -Substation project estimating process improvement support. -Support the implementation of the new estimating platform (Sage Estimating). -Create example estimates on Success Enterprise and Sage Estimating to make comparison between the two estimating platforms. -Make necessary updates to the database to improve accuracy and consistency.

What You Bring

-Strong drafting and design experience (AutoCAD and Microstation) required. -Strong communication and interpersonal skills. -Basic knowledge of the electric grid, substation components and their functions. -Planning and organizational skills. -4-year degree in Physics, Math, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Engineering or other technical related discipline; or -Basic knowledge of computers, keyboarding skills and the use of Microsoft office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and applicable software programs. -Self-motivator who can work cooperatively in a team environment but is comfortable independently seeking knowledge and information. -Effective decision-making skills. -Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems. -Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices. -Strong time management skills with an ability to independently plan and organize work assignments. -Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks. -Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred degree. -Basic understanding of the Substation design principles and practices for major substation equipment, transmission lines and distribution feeder configurations. -4-year Engineering Technology degree or 4-year degree in Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or -Ability to read, interpret, and modify Substation one-line diagrams, General Arrangement plan and elevation drawings. -4-year non-technical degree and post-graduate degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or
