The Role

Overview

Perform grounds, equipment, chemical handling, water sampling, and snow removal tasks.

Tasks

-Take readings and change charts. -Loads, unloads and stores chemicals. Add chemicals to mixing chambers at outlying stations as and where required. -Inspect, adjust and make minor repairs to equipment including motors, pumps, recorders, air lines, chemical treatment equipment, etc. at all Company locations to ensure proper functioning. -Make field tests to determine water temperature and chlorine residual of all samples collected. -Perform structure and grounds related work as needed. -Monitor and adjust chlorine, caustic, and other chemical dosages as required at outlying stations. -Mus drive heavy automotive equipment and operate power equipment. -Record information collected. -Treat samples for dissolved oxygen analysis. -Collect samples from watershed streams, production and distribution system and other samples as required from transmission to laboratory for analysis.

What You Bring

-Commercial Driver's Certification "B" with Air Brake Endorsement and all required Department of Transportation certifications to transport hypochlorite, copper sulfate and other chemicals. (NYS law requires incumbent to be at least 21 years of age) -Must perform snow plowing/removal as required. -High School Diploma/GED is required. -Employees entering this classification must obtain a New York State Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification within an acceptable period of time (12 to 18 months) and must, thereafter, fulfill the requirements to maintain such certification. -Must have a valid State Driver's License. -Must have applicable operating licenses and certifications including NYS IIB.
