Tasks

-Ensure all civil and structural engineering work is designed and executed in full compliance with Veolia’s contractual obligations. -Maintain open communication with the Design, Engineering, Construction, and Operations departments regarding complex technical matters. -Participate in regular progress meetings during the tender, design, and construction phases of projects. -Provide support to the project development team with regards to the costing and programming of civil and structural works for each project. -Conduct feasibility studies and design assessments with the MEP design team for energy projects, supporting the RIBA Stage 2 design process. -Generate technical and performance specifications for inclusion in the employer's requirements for external detailed design contractors. -Serve as the specialist Civil and Structural Engineering resource for Project Managers and Technical Solutions Managers. -Collaborate with the Technical Solutions Team to design initial site concept layouts for energy projects, prioritising operational efficiency, safety, flexibility, and buildability. -Review detailed design packages, providing technical governance and feedback focused on enhancing safety, performance, and achieving value engineering. -Liaise with operations, planning, and permitting teams to guarantee adherence to CDM regulations.

What You Bring

-Fundamental understanding of common construction contracts (e.g., NEC3, FIDIC Red Book) and environmental legislation. -Proficiency in the design of civil and structural elements for energy installations across a variety of facilities (e.g., commercial, industrial, NHS, district heating). -A qualified Civil and Structural Design Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience. -Demonstrable ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external contractors, fostering strong working relationships. -Proven skills in project management, time planning, and self-organisation, with a strong results-oriented approach. -Working towards, or a commitment to achieving, Chartered status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or another recognised professional body.
