The Role

Overview

Locate and mark underground utilities before construction projects.

Tasks

-Collects and confirms data on located utilities and related above ground features by using drawings and ground penetrating software (GPS). -Conducts job tasks in a field-based environment. -Prepares various reports and documentation. -Locates underground utility infrastructure and obstacles using various locating equipment and techniques, per company procedure(s). -Works autonomously and self-manages daily activities and communication to all stakeholders. -Observes, practices, and enforces Badger’s SHS policies and practices. -Participates in planning and/or inspection meetings to present findings. -Interprets underground utility infrastructure drawings and records. -Maintains Badger vehicles and equipment.

What You Bring

-Communicates known and unknown underground objects located. -Able to travel as required, sometimes on short notice for work assignments and/or training. -Excellent communication and customer service skills to interact with clients, colleagues, and the public. -Education: Minimum high school education or equivalent. -Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel). -This job requires typical construction type hours with some weeks being less than 40 hours and others requiring 50 plus hours. -Ability to distinguish colors for marked utilities. -Valid driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract. -Ability to work with minimal supervision. -Previous experience with locating underground utility infrastructure. -Strong work ethic and positive team attitude. -FIELD: Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds, standing/walking for extended periods, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and working in various weather conditions.
