Lead Engineer - Systems Architecture and Design

Tasks

-Provide technical guidance, direction, and training to a new and/or experienced engineers, specialists, technicians, and contractors when require. -Developing and supporting protection and control solutions using detailed functional specifications describing algorithms and test plans and model-based design for code generation. -Work with Customer Support personnel to resolve product, process, and customer issues -Analyze market trends and requirements to propose new developments in GE Grid Solution’s products. -Provide technical consultation to cross-functional teams throughout the business to improve or resolve manufacturing, products, applications, or field issues -Author technical papers and present materials at tradeshows and conferences for GE products -Work with Program & Product Management teams to create high-level specifications. -Analyze user specifications / requirements to recommend appropriate GE Grid Solution’s solutions. -Perform system studies and simulations using appropriate tools to validate GE Grid Solutions algorithms. -Provide technical consultation, leadership, and guidance throughout the entire NPI design process -Assist in preparing training material and deliver training courses, where required

What You Bring

-The role requires advanced knowledge and experience in Electrical engineering equivalent to Degree level or above from a credited University. -Working knowledge of Matlab / Simulink for model design and power system simulation tools such as RTDS. PSCAD or ATP/EMTP. -Familiarity with industry standards and documentation procedures of electrical utilities -Able to share ideas and work well in a team environment, proactive approach to tasks displaying initiative -Demonstrated record in developing applications for the P&C market -Strong organizational skills, self-motivated and self-directed -Experience in developing applications in the P&C (Protection & Control) market or in a Postgraduate / Research environment -Strong communication skills and a proactive and open approach to conflict resolution -Flexible and adaptable; open to change and modification of tasks, working in multi-tasking environment. -A minimum of 8 years of experience in power system protection and automation products -Knowledge of modern protection and control and distribution automation developments and trends -Knowledge or experience of metering, wireless / Ethernet / serial communications applicable to P&C (such as IEC61850, Modbus, DNP3.0 and IEC60870-5-103. -Proven record of writing and presenting papers at industry conferences.
