Tasks

-Operate Electrical system - Transmission, Substation and Distribution Switching -Operate heavy equipment (Backhoe or similar equipment). -Operate/Drive Company Trucks including Bucket Trucks. -Installing Electrical Service (pole to pole OR pole to service point). -Work in adverse conditions outdoors - day and night hours. -Pulling and splicing wires. -Candidates are responsible for all expenses related to traveling for testing, interview(s), etc. related to pre-employment requirements. -Writing Switching Orders

What You Bring

-Basic understanding of electrical Distribution Systems -Familiar with heavy equipment directly related to line work skill sets. -Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application. -Must demonstrate skills, knowledge, and ability by successfully completing the company's pre-employment New Journeyman Evaluation will be required. -Proficient climber up to 60 feet. -Previous experience working on the Georgia Power system highly preferred. -Must be available to travel outside of the state for storm restoration as needed. -Ability to quickly learn the Georgia Power work practices and work rules -Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver’s license). -Currently meets a maximum weight of 270 lbs. fully clothed (includes hard hat and work boots) due to weight-restricted aerial devices required. -Must consent to a continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record -Experience as a Journeyman Lineman with a minimum of 5 years' experience in the electric utility industry and 3 years of Journeyman Lineman experience working with voltages above 600 volts. -Knowledge of when and how to apply proper cover-up in energized situations. -Working in an overhead position while on the pole. -Customer oriented, team player, willing to learn new skills, motivated, resourceful, excellent driving skills, proactive, performs work following safety standards and procedures. -Candidate must be available and accessible at least 50% of time for emergency "call-out". -Ability to take instructions, directions and translate into actions. -Overhead distribution experience (up to 25Kv) required. -Experience using hydraulic and battery tools. -Pre-employment testing may be required depending on level of related work experience. -Candidate must be available for travel outside the state to support storm emergencies as needed. -Familiar with industry standard safe work practices. -Basic mechanical aptitude. -Must be available for scheduled or emergency call out which could include evenings, weekends and holidays. -Currently holds a valid driver's license and "Class A" CDL is required. -Previous experience with material handling bucket trucks. -Underground distribution experience (up to 25Kv) preferred. -Pole Climbing (up to 60 feet). -Familiar with work involving energized conductors required. -Construction and maintenance line work is desirable. -Knowledge of circuit protection. -Candidate must be available and accessible in times of emergency which could include evenings, weekends and holidays. -Knowledge of hand tools. -Leadership experience preferred. -A thorough background check and DOT drug screen will be conducted prior to employment (after a job offer is extended). In addition, you must successfully meet requirements for a Pre-Employment (DOT) physical exam approved by our company physician.
