The Role

Overview

2nd‑shift electrician installing, repairing, and maintaining plant electrical equipment.

Tasks

-Makes all required splices and connector joints. Adjusts all new equipment for proper operating characteristics. -Adjusts contactors, relays, bus rigging, etc. -Reconnects terminal leads, panels boards and distribution feeders. -Replaces coils, resistors, rheostats, relays, etc. -Installs conduit, fittings, switches, controls, and fixtures, and wires and connects all types of electrical equipment as required for new installations or replacement of facilities. -Changes DC motor characteristics by shunting DC coils, etc. -Dismantles, inspects, repairs, adjusts, or replaces faulty parts, wiring on motors, generators, motors, power distribution and control panels, circuit breakers, rectifiers, electronic devices, etc. -Analyzes all types of drawings and wiring diagrams to locate and install circuits and equipment to determine material or replacement needs and to select a logical approach to “trouble shooting” and repair problems. -Considers all safety precautions and the proper isolation of circuits to cause a minimum of interference to operations. -Clean up all work areas. -Receives wiring diagrams, specifications and instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection work to be done. -Locates source of trouble of any type of electrical equipment by tracing and testing circuits and inspecting for faulty operation. -Determines necessary tools and equipment. -Reassembles, tests, and adjusts equipment for safe and proper operation. Performs work on “hot” lines as required. -In emergencies, shunts out defective coils in order to get equipment back in operation. -Plans details of working procedure to affect the most logical approach to the job. -Performs all work in a safe and efficient manner and keeps work area in a clean and orderly condition.

What You Bring

-Plans and performs work requiring a thorough working knowledge of electrical principles, wiring specification codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of equipment. -Computer experience is desired, previous PLC experience required. -Must have experience trouble shooting and repairing electrical problems. -Must be able to wire motor control circuits and push-button circuits. -Must have a minimum of 3 years of electrical work experience or successful completion of an electronics curriculum from an accredited program. -Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams and drawings.
