Tasks

-Evaluates project scope and complexity to ensure accurate alignment of resources, schedule, and feasibility. -Works collaboratively with business development managers, project managers, architects, engineers, and marketing teams to coordinate and align business development efforts. -Develops, executes, and documents pursuit plans that reflect client expectations and firm capabilities. -Leads targeted business development initiatives to engage new clients and nurture long-term relationships with existing ones. -Provides guidance and oversight to junior business development professionals, fostering accountability and excellence. -Actively promotes the firm’s mission, vision, and Core Values in all internal and external activities. -Represents GMC in all professional engagements, maintaining a high standard of conduct and communication with clients, stakeholders, community leaders, and potential employees. -Partners with project managers to ensure appropriate technical personnel are engaged in client pursuits. -Participates in internal committees that reflect personal and professional interests, supporting broader firm growth and innovation initiatives. -Invests significant time in external outreach to cultivate relationships and expand GMC’s market presence. -Contributes ideas and strategies to improve business development processes, events, and client engagement methods. -Prioritizes relationship-building and trust within internal teams and with external partners as a foundation for success. -Maintains active involvement in local civic and professional organizations to build strategic relationships and identify new business opportunities. -Tracks industry trends, competitor activity, and regional developments to inform strategic decisions. -Participates in the full business development cycle—from opportunity analysis and proposal development to ongoing client retention and relationship management. -Utilizes firmwide resources and expertise across disciplines and office locations to enhance proposal strategies and client delivery -Drives the identification and pursuit of strategic opportunities that align with firmwide growth objectives. -Aligns all activities with firm leadership through coordination with project managers, department heads, and executive team members. -Actively uses CRM tools and participates in local and regional business development meetings. -Applies expert-level problem-solving skills to resolve client-related challenges and strengthen overall engagement -Regularly reports on planned and completed business development activities and event outcomes. -Maintains frequent and strategic communication with leadership, clients, public officials, contractors, and other stakeholders.

What You Bring

-Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. -Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, preferably in the architecture, engineering, or construction (AEC) industry -Participates meaningfully in community service and understands the broader impact of engagement on GMC’s brand and community partnerships. -Possesses a strong understanding of the full project lifecycle, with working knowledge of architectural and engineering design principles and construction practices. -Exhibits leadership that fosters effective team collaboration, strengthens client relationships, and drives new business opportunities. -Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of GMC’s core values, standards, and approach to project solicitation and client relationship management. -Establishes and maintains influential relationships, demonstrating strong negotiation and persuasion skills on high stakes matters.
