The Role

Assist executive chef with meal prep, kitchen upkeep, and event service.

Tasks

-Design, prepare, and decorate foods and artistic arrangements for formal functions. -Assist Executive Chef in ordering and receiving of all food and supply orders. -Maintain a working knowledge of current cooking trends and best practices. -Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, refrigerators, and storerooms. -Oversee and assist with serving meals and refreshments. -Assist Executive Chefs with preparing and executing meals. -Report needed maintenance or faulty equipment to Executive Chef. -Oversee, assign, and prepare a variety of meals, dishes, snacks, and hors d'oeuvres. -Develop, select, and modify recipes to meet high quality standards. -Ensure compliance with nutrition and sanitation regulations as well as safety standards. -Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed. -Washes, stacks, sorts, and stores dishes, glassware, utensils, and cookware while maintaining a clean kitchen and keeps dish area organized and free of clutter.

What You Bring

-Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. -Ability to bend, lift, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time. -Ability to work a variable schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays with on-call capacity to cover special events. -Experience as a prep cook, cook, catering/banquets with an excellent record. -Experience with performing sensitive tasks discretely and confidentially. -Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required, or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job. -Communication and leadership skills.
