Tasks
-Contribute to winning proposals and negotiate project terms. -Provide leadership or support of project management team in managing fees and add services while monitoring and maintaining contractual obligations. Integrate client and regulatory requirements into all phases of project documentation. -Oversee quality assurance to ensure design excellence and code compliance. -Participate in client and OAC (Owner, Architect, Contractor) meetings. -Incorporate sustainable and decarbonization design methods into building designs. -Lead mechanical engineering designs for acute healthcare facilities, central plants, and renovation projects. Perform as engineer of record (or alternate). Design mechanical systems including: heating, cooling, heat rejection, air distribution, ventilation, air conditioning, building automation and controls. -Apply lessons learned to drive innovation and project value. -Guide collaborators through technical decisions and solutions. -Provide tangible leadership for the project team and mentor and lead teams to deliver high performance design along with building a climate of trust and openness in the team. -Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare clients and industry partners. -Lead aspects of financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and profitability. -Identify and pursue new project opportunities that align with Arup’s strategy.

What You Bring
-Proven success leading medium to large-scale healthcare projects. -Minimum 8 years managing multidisciplinary project teams required. -Demonstrated ability to mentor staff and lead high-performing teams. -Minimum 15 years of experience designing HVAC systems for acute healthcare projects required. -Strong commercial acumen, including financial and risk management. -Candidates not based in Phoenix must be willing to travel 20–40% for project-related needs. -Expertise in central plant design and acute care renovation. -Professional Engineer (PE) license required. -Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field required. -Candidates based in Phoenix will have limited travel requirements for project client meetings as needed.
