Tasks

-Identify and reduce non-value-added work -Assemble systems of gears by aligning and meshing gears in gearboxes -While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and stand; sit, use hands or fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, parts, or controls reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to balance and climb; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. -Maintain and lubricate parts and components -Rework, repair, and replace damaged parts or assemblies -Test and adjust engine systems to meet performance specifications -Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas -Perform special projects as may be required and maintain on the job flexibility by providing support in quality, assembly and other production related areas -Read and interpret assembly blueprints and specifications manuals, and plan assembly or building operations -Provide training to personnel as specified in the departmental training matrix -Diagnose faults of malfunctions to determine the required repairs using engine diagnostic equipment and calibration devices -Position and align components for assembly, manually or using hoists, and set and verify parts clearances -Inspect, operate, and test completed products to verify functioning, machine capabilities, and conformance to customer and company specifications -Verify conformance of parts to stock lists and blueprints, using measuring instruments -Fasten and install piping, fixtures, or wiring and electrical components to form assemblies or subassemblies

What You Bring

-Basic PC knowledge and the ability to efficiently operate computer terminals and scanning devices -Ability to interpret Statistical Process Control (SPC) and operate scanning devices for system communications -Ability to obtain appropriate power vehicle license (Flatbed, Hi-Lo, & Mule) when necessary -Basic oral and written communication skills -Intermediate knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance -Basic knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and the ability to use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations or standards -Experience in engine control systems, design, function and assembly, including marine applications -The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The employee may also be exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable. -Ability to work any shift and overtime as required -Basic ability to interpret blueprints, build documents, schematic drawings, layouts or other documents regarding engine assembly and testing -Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills where problems are complex -Basic knowledge of manufacturing and production processes, raw materials, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods (Quality Alerts, Second Checks, etc,) -Basic interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with other employees -Intermediate knowledge of engine control systems, design, assembly and function -Knowledge of MTU products, policies and procedures -“Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship.
