Tasks

-Prepares and processes federal, state, and local quarterly estimated income tax payments -Collaborates with external tax consultants on the preparation and review of all federal, state, and local income tax returns -Responds to direct tax notices and resolves them in a timely manner -Maintains tax entity organization charts and direct tax filing compliance calendar for accuracy and completeness; ensures compliance with changing tax laws and regulations -Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times -Assists the Director, Tax with the preparation of the annual tax provision -Assists the Director, Tax with direct tax audits by the IRS and state/local taxing authorities -Performs tax research as it relates to direct taxation and determines the impact to the organization, providing direction to mitigate exposure and advocate for tax-planning opportunities -Prepares balance sheet reconciliations for all direct tax-related accounts and proposes correcting journal entries

What You Bring

-Ability to thrive in a hands-on, opportunistic, problem-solving environment -Ability to work independently and be accountable for individual contributions within the tax department -Highly skilled in all advanced functionality of Microsoft Excel -Deep understanding of data architecture and advanced planning and analytical tools (e.g. Oracle EPM, MS Power BI) -Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders -Ability to work as part of a team, supporting and fostering trust within the tax department -Ability to meet external deadlines for tax return filings to prevent penalty and interest expenses for the organization, as well as meet internal deadlines for the accounting function -Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field (required) -Regular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role -5+ years of experience in tax accounting (required) -Strong understanding of GAAP and ASC 740 (required) -Strong proficiency in and experience using ONESOURCE Tax Provision, including prior implementation (preferred) -Ability to interpret local, state, and federal tax law as it pertains to organizational operations -Keen ability and desire to collaborate with cross-functional teams -Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to positively influence the outcome of projects -CPA Certification (preferred) -Previous experience working with Oracle PeopleSoft Financials (preferred)
