About the Role

Drivers perform daily pre‑trip inspections, review shipping papers, and operate vehicles in strict compliance with DOT and state regulations. They pick up, transport, and deliver freight, load and unload goods manually or with equipment, and secure loads using tarps, chains, or straps. Additional duties include hooking and unhooking trailers, collecting C.O.D. charges, verifying freight against bills of lading, maintaining a professional image, and completing required paperwork and driver logs. The primary accountability is the safe and legal operation of a commercial vehicle and timely transport of freight between locations. Drivers must ensure proper loading and unloading to minimize product damage and safety risks, accurately complete all paperwork, and represent the company responsibly within the trucking industry. • Conduct daily pre‑trip inspections to ensure safe vehicle conditions. • Review shipping papers, confirm load details and identify any hazards. • Operate the truck in compliance with DOT, state, and company regulations. • Pick up, transport, and deliver freight to designated locations. • Load and unload freight manually or using mechanical equipment; hook and unhook trailers. • Collect and remit freight charges (C.O.D.) as instructed. • Verify freight against bills of lading and manifests, noting discrepancies. • Secure loads with tarps, chains, webbing, or straps. • Maintain a professional demeanor with customers and represent the company positively. • Keep driver’s log and required paperwork accurate and up‑to‑date. • Report any accidents or equipment injuries immediately to the branch manager. • Utilize pallet jacks, forklifts, lift gates and other equipment safely. • Sit and remain alert for up to 10‑hour driving periods. • Perform occasional lifting of up to 250 lb and frequent handling of loads up to 75 lb.
