About the Role

• Oversee preparation and review of Canadian tax returns and filings, including SR&ED claims and T106s. • Manage US federal and state tax filings, such as Forms 1042 and 1120. • Coordinate and review cross‑border tax reporting, calculations, and analysis, including T1134, surplus calculations, and transfer pricing. • Work with the reporting team to prepare period‑end tax provisions, supporting schedules, and financial‑statement note disclosures. • Assist the financial planning team by preparing tax projections for annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and strategic planning. • Lead CRA and IRS income and commodity tax inquiries. • Serve as primary contact for external auditors on tax‑related issues. • Research tax issues, assess impacts of Canadian and US legislative changes, and provide recommendations. • Develop and implement tax‑planning strategies to improve Canadian and US tax efficiency, including structuring cross‑border transactions. • Collaborate with the Director of Finance and external advisors on tax structuring for M&A and annual tax planning. • Completed the In‑Depth Tax program.

What You Bring

• CPA designation (Canada) required; US CPA considered an asset. • Minimum 5 years of progressive tax experience with significant exposure to Canadian and US tax matters. • Knowledge of commodity tax regulations. • Experience with SR&ED filings. • Understanding of US federal and state tax regimes (asset). • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Self‑starter with strong attention to detail and deadline focus. • Ability to prioritize, solve problems, and appropriately escalate issues. • Strong decision‑making and analytical abilities. • Proficiency with TaxPrep and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
