About the Role
The Field Operations team acts as the tactical engine of Base’s mission, solving the “last mile” challenge of grid modernization by integrating distributed storage into aging infrastructure. Leading the inaugural Chicagoland unit, you will both execute installations and define the operational playbook for a critical new market, bridging cutting‑edge hardware with rigorous electrical codes. This work establishes safety and quality benchmarks that enable scaling a decentralized power network across the Midwest. • Supervise installation of home backup batteries. • Troubleshoot and diagnose field failures. • Perform inspection failure repairs. • Onboard and train new installer crews or subcontractors. • Meet with inspectors and Authority Having Jurisdictions. • Participate in inspections. • Develop subject‑matter expertise in Base hardware, electrical principles, and NEC codes. • Respond to on‑call electrical issues during nights and weekends on a rotational schedule. • Complete a 30‑day onsite onboarding and training at Base’s Austin headquarters.

As the inaugural Master Electrician for the region, you will shape field operations, train new crews, and set service‑delivery standards. The ideal candidate thrives in fast‑moving environments, embraces the mission of energy abundance, and translates vision into reality through disciplined execution and strong leadership. This role goes beyond technical expertise to lay the groundwork for long‑term success in a new market. • Hold an active Master Electrician license for Chicago, Elgin, or any reciprocal Chicagoland jurisdiction. • Experience with battery backup systems, EV chargers, PV systems, or whole‑home generators preferred. • First Principles Thinking – question assumptions; prioritize principles over rules. • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held – drive clarity and make decisions with imperfect information.
