About the Role
The VDC Engineer will be responsible for managing and evaluating model‑based information from the design team and subcontractors, ensuring the project is built “digitally first.” The role reports to the VDC Project Manager or other senior project leaders and has supervisory responsibility for VDC Coordinators and interns, while also collaborating with the VDC Manager. • Oversee and make decisions on BIM model information. • Resolve plan and specification issues by coordinating with architects, subcontractors, consultants, inspectors, and owners. • Manage coordination models, model‑based submittals, and shop drawings; assess conformance to contract specifications and resolve conflicts. • Schedule and lead 3D virtual trade coordination, preconstruction, and submittal review meetings. • Oversee BIM close‑out process and prepare final as‑built models and turnover documentation for the owner. • Supervise VDC Coordinators and Interns, including providing input for performance appraisals. • Prepare scope of work documents for trades that produce and use BIM models. • Develop reports and assessments such as coordination meeting records and constraint logs.

What You Bring
The position requires occasional physical activities such as climbing stairs or ladders, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working on active construction sites where exposure to noise, moving equipment, weather conditions, and potential electrical hazards is common. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and have at least four years of relevant experience, possess strong communication skills, be proficient with BIM tools such as Navisworks Manage, Trimble SketchUp, and Autodesk Revit, and demonstrate leadership and the ability to interpret contract documents and project schedules. • Minimum bachelor’s degree and four or more years of related experience (or equivalent). • Proficient in BIM applications: Navisworks Manage, Trimble SketchUp, and Autodesk Revit. • Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office suite. • Ability to read and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules. • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
