About the Role
In this role the manager will develop and maintain the project safety plan, monitor performance metrics, ensure compliance with safety management processes, lead safety committees and training, manage permits and documentation, conduct industrial hygiene assessments, and communicate regularly with project leadership while empowering workers to stop unsafe work. • Participate in creating the project safety plan. • Track and trend safety performance and recommend corrective measures. • Verify team adherence to safety management processes. • Assist with enforcement of safety programs, including drafting letters and issuing violations. • Facilitate project safety committees and preconstruction meetings. • Conduct or facilitate project‑wide safety training. • Support regulatory safety compliance for the project. • Lead safety inspections and verify corrective actions. • Empower employees to stop unsafe work until resolved. • Review incident investigations and How It Happened reports for accuracy. • Maintain site safety documentation (permits, inspections) per manuals. • Perform industrial hygiene assessments (noise, air monitoring). • Coordinate and communicate safety activities with the Project Manager. • Participate in regulatory compliance audits (OSHA inspections). • Encourage innovative safety thinking within the project team. • Complete 8 hours of documented Safety & Health coursework each year.

What You Bring
Contrack Watts Inc. is hiring a Project Safety Manager for a Bremerton, WA project. Federal and USACE experience is required. The manager provides site safety leadership, serves as an expert resource, implements company safety standards, delivers training, supports preconstruction planning, conducts safety audits, and investigates incidents. They report to the Project Superintendent or Project Manager and may oversee additional safety managers. Candidates must have at least five years of continuous construction or general‑industry safety supervision, an OSHA 30 certification, annual safety coursework, and proven federal‑project experience aligned with USACE or related standards. Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, coaching abilities, and proficiency with Microsoft Office are also required. • Minimum 5 years continuous construction safety experience supervising/managing safety programs, or 5 years general‑industry safety experience. • OSHA 30 certification required. • Federal project experience required; familiarity with USACE EM 385‑1‑1, UFGS, or related standards. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Strong time management, judgment, and organizational abilities. • Ability to coach project teams and resolve safety issues efficiently. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn additional software.
