UK Waste Strategy & Circular Economy Lead

About the Role
This UK‑based role in England will lead transformational change across a client’s diverse portfolio of primarily manufacturing assets. The position is responsible for implementing advanced circular‑economy initiatives, optimizing waste‑management operations and establishing industry‑leading sustainable manufacturing practices to meet the client’s sustainability goals. You will report to the Global Sustainability Lead and work closely with the account team, the wider Sustainable Operations group and external waste‑management contractors. The job involves partnering with facility managers, suppliers and regional teams to embed circular‑economy metrics, improve operational efficiency and drive innovation in waste reduction. • Consolidate and sign off monthly waste data, build UK baseline and train staff on reporting. • Ensure environmental compliance, support ISO 14001 and other audits, manage consignment and transfer documentation, and provide compliance training. • Lead waste composition analysis, identify high‑value recyclable materials and emerging recycling technologies. • Develop recycling opportunity registers with financial impact assessments and integrate closed‑loop supplier programmes. • Optimize waste collection schedules, container sizing and route planning to reduce costs and improve efficiency. • Create cost‑reduction roadmaps and operational recommendations for waste management. • Engage circular‑economy innovators, establish governance for pilot projects and collaborate with aerospace and high‑tech partners. • Manage stakeholder relationships with clients, waste contractors and JLL facility managers, providing advice and supporting sustainability operating procedures. • Helps Others – build relationships, collaborate and support colleagues.

What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Sustainability or related field (Master’s preferred). • Minimum 7 years experience in waste management, circular economy or sustainability strategy. • Strong analytical skills with ability to manipulate complex data sets and create detailed reports. • Proven track record in supplier relationship management and procurement integration. • Experience in cost‑benefit analysis, financial modelling and budgeting. • Knowledge of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes and relevant regulations. • Self‑starter with excellent written and verbal communication, able to work autonomously and within a team. • Project management experience preferred. • Think Big – strategic vision, simplify complexity, solve problems.
