Engineering modern apprentice– service technician

About the Role

Each day begins with a safety‑focused team briefing that sets priorities for the shift. You will then partner with a senior engineer to carry out tasks ranging from equipment preparation and installation to servicing and fault diagnosis. Throughout the day you will receive practical guidance while adhering to strict safety standards to protect yourself and the team. The experience is complemented by the use of laptops and mobile devices to support your work. • Perform maintenance, installation, and repair on power generation and battery storage equipment. • Use hand tools to develop technical knowledge and confidence. • Diagnose faults and troubleshoot equipment issues. • Follow safety procedures to protect yourself and others. • Collaborate with teams to deliver excellent service and support key projects. • Utilize IT tools such as laptops and mobile devices to aid your work. • Combine practical work experience with college study toward a Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering.

What You Bring

Join Aggreko as a modern apprentice at our Elgin depot, where you will work alongside skilled engineers on a variety of power generation and battery storage equipment. This role offers hands‑on experience in maintaining, installing and repairing critical energy solutions that keep customers’ worlds ‘on’. Aggreko delivers uninterrupted power, heating, cooling and oil‑free air for events, mining operations and remote communities. To apply you need at least four National 5 qualifications – Maths at grade B (or predicted) and three other subjects at grade C+ including English and a STEM subject. You should also bring a positive, reliable attitude, strong communication and teamwork skills, and a willingness to solve problems. Benefits

The apprenticeship is based at the Elgin depot (IV30 6NG) with day releases to Northeast Scotland College (Fraserburgh campus, AB43 9GA). It leads to a Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering after four years of study and practical training, with a starting salary of £18,720 and an August 2026 start date. On successful completion you will be qualified for a wide range of roles across the UK or abroad, with Aggreko supporting your ongoing career development.
