About the Role
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) must be flexible with scheduling, including weekends, holidays, and varying shifts, and be readily accessible to guests and employees. The role focuses on achieving hotel financial goals and budget targets while maintaining payroll and purchasing controls to exceed profit objectives. The AGM assists in developing short- and long-range financial objectives aligned with property goals and ensures compliance with Shaner and franchise operating standards. The AGM assists the General Manager in controlling all hotel operations according to company policies, franchise standards, and the core values of guest satisfaction, associate satisfaction, accountability, and profitability. The ideal candidate demonstrates proven leadership in the hospitality industry. • Drive profitability by meeting budget targets and overseeing payroll and purchasing. • Set and align financial objectives with property goals. • Enforce Shaner and franchise operational standards. • Resolve guest issues to ensure satisfaction. • Coach staff and uphold cleaning and safety protocols. • Manage employee performance to maintain a productive environment. • Achieve top inspection scores for service and cleanliness.

What You Bring
The AGM maintains comprehensive knowledge of hotel features, room types, rates, and occupancy, handling guest complaints to ensure satisfaction. They support staff in their job functions to deliver optimum guest service, lead employee performance, and establish training standards for cleaning and safety across all departments. Additionally, they work to achieve high scores on Shaner and franchise inspections for customer service, cleanliness, and related criteria, and perform other duties as assigned. The position requires at least one year of management experience in hospitality, a high school diploma (college degree in hospitality management or business preferred), and strong communication skills with guests, management, and co‑workers. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, and candidates should possess knowledge of budget preparation, cost controls, property management systems, and all hotel departments, as well as the ability to interpret safety rules, write reports, and speak effectively to groups. • Require at least one year of hospitality management experience. • Hold a high school diploma; degree in hospitality or business preferred. • Possess strong communication skills; bilingual ability advantageous. • Understand budgeting, cost control, and property management systems. • Knowledgeable of all hotel departments and safety procedures. • Capable of drafting reports and delivering presentations.
