About the Role
The Electrical Engineer will perform commissioning, installation, repair, maintenance and upgrades of large rotating electrical machines and their associated control equipment at customer sites across the United States and internationally. Responsibilities include electrical testing, upgrading control systems, interpreting technical drawings, and participating in on‑site technical meetings while adhering to strict health‑and‑safety procedures. • Commission high‑voltage generators, motors, synchronous condensers, power‑management and protection systems at customer sites. • Perform installation, repair, maintenance and upgrades of rotating electrical machines and control equipment. • Conduct electrical testing (e.g., polarization index, insulation resistance, Ductor) on high‑ and low‑voltage equipment in the field. • Upgrade AVR, PMS, synchronizers, protection relays and related control elements. • Manage site‑level project tasks and deliver training on BRUSH products to clients and colleagues. • Interpret technical drawings, specifications and attend on‑site technical meetings.

Field Service Electrical Engineer (Remote in Houston) – Baker Hughes is seeking an experienced field service engineer to deliver top‑class service to its customers. The role is part of the IET team that advances energy technology, focusing on electromechanical equipment such as generators, condensers, motors and power‑management systems. Candidates must hold a degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a recognized electrical craft apprenticeship, complemented by solid field experience. A deep understanding of power generation and distribution for industrial equipment is required, along with knowledge of networking protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet, IEC 61850 and fiber optics. Applicants should be self‑reliant, resourceful problem‑solvers with strong commercial awareness. • Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or recognized electrical craft apprenticeship with field experience. • Strong knowledge of electrical power generation and distribution systems for industrial equipment. • Familiarity with industrial networking protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet, IEC 61850 and fiber optics. • Ability to work independently, solve problems and exercise commercial awareness. • Experience representing the company at customer sites and complying with health‑and‑safety procedures for HV/MV work. • Willingness to travel 75‑85 % of the time, domestically and internationally, on short notice.
