About the Role
The Project Engineer role supports field‑based activities across the assigned project area, handling engineering tasks such as daily reports, quantity tracking, scheduling, budget updates, correspondence logs, and requests for information. Travel accounts for roughly 75 % of the time, with temporary relocation to worksites as needed. Employees receive a vehicle allowance, fuel card, and per‑diem for meals and lodging while traveling. In this position the engineer interprets design drawings for superintendents and foremen, coordinates with project managers to resolve drawing conflicts, and produces drafting, digitizing, mapping, and quantity takeoffs to support construction and change orders. The role maintains current drawing logs, administers the FTP site for document transfer, tracks weekly production, and prepares status reports, punch lists, and meeting documentation. Additionally, the engineer assists with survey control lines, ensures compliance with codes and specifications, and leads project meetings when the project manager is absent. Key responsibilities also include budgeting and cost coding, reviewing and approving invoices, preparing monthly billings, scheduling equipment and materials, creating time‑and‑material timesheets, and supporting change‑order management. The engineer collaborates with estimating to develop hard‑dollar project estimates and performs other assignments as directed by the division manager. • Interpret design drawings and resolve field issues. • Produce drafting, digitizing, mapping, and quantity takeoffs. • Maintain and distribute up‑to‑date project drawing logs. • Track weekly production and generate status and punch‑list reports. • Lead project meetings and prepare meeting documentation. • Coordinate budgeting, cost tracking, and invoice approvals with the Project Manager. • Schedule equipment, materials, and create time‑and‑material timesheets. • Assist with survey control lines for accurate grading and material installation. • Collaborate with estimating to draft hard‑dollar project estimates.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field and have at least one year of project engineering experience in a construction environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD Civil 3D (or equivalent), and familiarity with job‑costing, scheduling, and estimating software are preferred. Strong organizational, multitasking, and deadline‑driven abilities are essential. • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. • Minimum one year of project engineering experience in construction. • Proficient with MS Office and AutoCAD Civil 3D (or equivalent). • Experience with job costing, scheduling, and estimating software preferred. • Strong organizational, multitasking, and deadline‑management abilities.
