About the Role

Based in Sidney, Ohio, the Senior/Lead Manufacturing Design Engineer will work within the corporate Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) department to design and deliver solutions that optimize cost, capital investment and system performance using CAD and simulation tools. The role involves generating initial design concepts, creating detailed designs, coordinating with product engineering on new model releases, working with external integrators, and contributing to the enhancement of manufacturing design standards. The engineer also monitors manufacturing industry trends and digital technologies to implement best‑in‑class solutions for our global facilities. • Create concepts for new manufacturing processes, generate conceptual assembly line & plant floor layouts. • Collaborate with product development groups to address industry trends and leverage design for manufacturing expertise to ensure safety, quality, and performance are achieved. • Work with outside integrators to conceptualize, generate, and propose initial manufacturing design concepts. • Design manufacturing equipment, work‑holding, and fixturing for high volume assembly and machining operations using NX 3‑D modeling software. • Lead and participate in manufacturing equipment and tooling design reviews with internal and outside system integrators. • Optimize processes utilizing digital manufacturing design and simulations within HVACR digital transformation initiatives. • Contribute to the direction of manufacturing design standards to establish synergy between AME, product engineering and our manufacturing plants. • Ensure all lab and production equipment meet safety requirements in accordance with applicable industry standards.

What You Bring

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or Industrial Engineering (associate degree with equivalent experience also considered). • Minimum of seven years experience in a manufacturing/tooling engineering environment. • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with ability to apply creative thinking to complex problems. • Good organizational, project management, and presentation skills for interacting with internal engineers and external vendors. • Ability to develop collaborative relationships in a team environment focusing on win‑win solutions. • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced engineering environment. • Strong mechanical background and experience with mechanical systems. • Strong understanding of materials and tool‑making processes. • Experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., NX, Creo, CATIA, SolidWorks). • Experience and working knowledge of PC applications and Microsoft Office products. • Experience in high‑volume manufacturing tooling/fixturing design. • Experience in machine and manufacturing design. • Ability to recognize and solve complex issues in mechanical design. • Five years using NX Modeling software. • Experience working with Teamcenter PLM software. • In‑depth knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack‑up analysis. • Experience with design and manufacture of high‑speed rotating products.
