About the Role
The intern assists the accounting team in meeting client contractual billing and accounts‑receivable requirements, processes vendor and subcontractor invoices, and ensures all lien waivers, contracts and insurance documents are in place. Responsibilities also include supporting the monthly close by posting or accruing client bills and project costs, handling internal and external audit requests, and facilitating data entry for project‑specific vendor invoices. Additional duties involve preparing multi‑project invoices for central posting, performing administrative tasks such as vendor setup, tax reporting, and collecting tax‑exempt certificates, and compiling backup documentation for Turner owner payment applications. What You Bring
The position is based in Seattle, WA and is classified as a regular, non‑exempt finance internship within Turner’s Operational Finance division. It reports to the Accounting Manager, Accountant, or Senior Accountant of Operational Finance and provides financial services support to profit centers. Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited four‑year college or university, preferably majoring in Accounting, Finance or a related field, with at least one year of coursework. The internship demands a standard work week, strong interpersonal skills demonstrated through leadership or community involvement, and a genuine interest in Turner’s finance strategy and core values. Successful interns are proactive, detail‑oriented, adaptable, and capable of working both independently and within a team environment. Essential competencies include exceptional organization, clear written and verbal communication, and intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications. The role requires the ability to navigate construction sites, including climbing stairs, ladders, and using hoists, as well as handling physical tasks such as lifting heavy objects and maintaining balance in various positions.
