About the Role

The successful candidate will provide strategic legal leadership for the multi‑billion‑pound Civil Works Alliance, ensuring robust governance, contractual and regulatory compliance across a complex multi‑party framework. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel and with a line to the General Counsel, the role involves advising the Alliance leadership and collaborating with Delivery, Commercial, Finance and Project Controls functions. The position also carries line‑management responsibility within the Sizewell C legal team. • Provide strategic legal leadership for the Civil Works Alliance, overseeing governance and compliance. • Deliver operational legal advice to Alliance leadership and collaborate with Delivery, Commercial, Finance and Project Controls teams. • Manage a legal team and report to the Deputy General Counsel and General Counsel. • Negotiate, draft and review contracts under NEC, FIDIC or alliance frameworks. • Advise senior stakeholders on complex commercial and regulatory matters.

What You Bring

Applicants must be a qualified solicitor or barrister in England & Wales with significant post‑qualification experience on major construction or infrastructure projects. A strong background in construction and engineering law, particularly NEC, FIDIC or alliance models, is essential, as is proven experience on large‑scale energy projects and the ability to deliver clear, commercially‑sound advice in complex environments. • Qualified solicitor or barrister (England & Wales) with extensive post‑qualification experience in major construction or infrastructure projects. • Strong background in construction and engineering law (NEC, FIDIC, or alliance models). • Proven experience advising on large‑scale infrastructure or energy projects. • Excellent negotiation, drafting and stakeholder‑management skills. • Ability to provide clear, practical, commercially sound legal advice in complex environments. • Experience working within a collaborative or alliancing delivery model.
