About the Role
The intern will develop mechanical hardware from concept generation through detailed design, prototyping, and design‑verification testing. Duties include regulatory‑approval testing, launch support, coordinating prototype efforts, planning and executing test programs, and analyzing test data to optimize designs. The role also involves preparing design diagrams, detailed drawings, specifications, and presenting technical reports. Collaboration occurs with engineers, program managers, product line managers, and other professionals to create world‑class life‑safety products. Responsibilities include analyzing market requirements, assessing feasibility, cost, vibration tolerance, mechanical stress, fluid flow, heat transfer, and maintaining knowledge of manufacturing methods, industry trends, and regulatory standards. • Design and develop mechanical hardware for fire‑suppression products, from concept to prototype. • Conduct design‑verification and regulatory‑approval testing, analyze data, and support product launch. • Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and present technical reports. • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate market requirements into design solutions. • Evaluate feasibility, cost, vibration tolerance, mechanical stress, fluid flow, and heat transfer. • Coordinate prototype fabrication and optimize designs for manufacturing efficiency. • Maintain knowledge of industry trends, manufacturing methods, and regulatory standards.

What You Bring
Candidates must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, have completed a sophomore year toward a BS or the first year of an MS, and be able to apply fundamental engineering theory, mathematics, mechanics, and physical science. Required skills include teamwork, strong written and oral communication, flexibility, high attention to detail, and solid organizational abilities.
