About the Role

The technician will operate rigging equipment during rehearsals and performances and ensure its safe setup, use, and maintenance. They will also manage cue‑track documentation, maintain inspection records, assist with inventory, and contribute to special projects such as building new show elements. The role requires strict adherence to OSHA regulations and Cirque’s safety standards, as well as cross‑departmental support when needed. • Operate rigging equipment during performances and rehearsals. • Ensure safe setup, use and maintenance of rigging equipment by completing timely inspections. • Maintain cue track documentation and participate in cue track rotation as directed. • Update maintenance and inspection records to keep equipment compliant with company policies. • Assist with inventory by identifying needed rigging equipment and communicating with the lead. • Participate in special projects such as constructing and installing new show elements, maintaining a flexible schedule. • Follow OSHA regulations, attend required health and safety training, and practice emergency rescue procedures. • Adhere to Cirque du Soleil safety standards, values, policies and established working methods. • Provide cross‑departmental support when needed.

Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group is seeking an on‑call Rigging Technician for Acrobatic Rigging, primarily working evenings as needed. This role offers an opportunity to earn extra income while supporting circus productions. Ideal candidates are team‑players who can handle contingencies, work under pressure, and communicate effectively via headset. They should possess at least two years of relevant show or theater experience, a basic knowledge of knots, and the ability to work at heights. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a willingness to obtain an OSHA 10 card are also required. • Minimum two years of show or theater experience, or equivalent technical rigging experience. • Basic understanding of entertainment knots. • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). • Ability to work, climb and maneuver at heights. • Fall protection knowledge (asset). • Rope access knowledge (asset). • AutoCAD proficiency (asset). • Mechanical aptitude (fabrication, chain hoists, counterweight systems) (asset). • Previous aerial, acrobatic or theatrical rigging experience (a plus). • Ability to obtain an OSHA 10 certification card. • Fluent English communication, both written and spoken, including headset use. • Availability for varied shifts, weekends and holidays. • High school diploma or GED. • Ability to perform essential physical functions, including lifting 75–100 lb and operating mechanized equipment. • Eligibility to work in the United States and ability to complete Form I‑9 documentation. • Being heard – open, transparent communication and access to leadership.
