About the Role

The Converter Operator – Class I at the Summit Plant works a union shift from 6:55 AM to 7:00 PM, earning $26.89 per hour. Reporting to the Asphalt Production Leader and Operations Leader, the operator ensures safe, efficient, high‑quality asphalt production while maintaining safety, environmental compliance, product quality, and cost efficiency. The role also promotes teamwork, coaches staff, and supports continuous‑improvement initiatives to meet customer requirements and maximize plant performance. The operator takes personal ownership of safety, promptly reports accidents or unsafe conditions, and ensures compliance with safety, environmental and housekeeping standards. They oversee team safety, production, product quality, and material/labor efficiency, troubleshoot process issues with operators and maintenance, and maintain accurate daily reports and production documentation. Coordination of raw‑material deliveries, loading/unloading trucks, and tank gauging are also part of the daily duties, along with partnering with the Operations Leader on process improvements. • Own and enforce safety standards; report accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately. • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and housekeeping regulations. • Supervise team performance in safety, production, product quality, and material/labor efficiency. • Troubleshoot process issues collaboratively with operators and maintenance staff. • Complete accurate daily reports, data entry, and production documentation. • Coordinate raw‑material deliveries and finished‑product pickups; load/unload trucks and perform tank gauging. • Partner with Operations Leader to implement process improvements and meet site goals. • Operate Allen Bradley panel views and SAP for production order processing. • Participate in 401(k) plan with up to 6 % company match and employee stock purchase plan.

What You Bring

Successful candidates must be proficient with Allen Bradley panel views and SAP for production order processing, possess strong general computer skills, and hold a high school diploma or GED. Knowledge of operations such as boilers, incinerators, preheaters, hot‑oil systems, tank burners, and computer‑controlled loading and unloading equipment is required. The position requires the ability to work up to eight hours in extreme temperatures, stand on concrete floors, climb stairs and ladders, and lift up to 40 lb unassisted while wearing required PPE.
