About the Role
Key duties include conducting vehicle maintenance checks, driving a cube van or 3‑ton dump truck with a trailer, and keeping crew vehicles clean and organized. The labourer will work with the crew to excavate pits, install rod and rope conduits, place underground cables, assist in directional bore operations, and handle removal and replacement of concrete and asphalt. Safe digging practices are ensured by reading underground utility locates, and the individual is responsible for restoring job sites to their original condition while maintaining a healthy work environment. • Perform regular vehicle maintenance checks and complete associated paperwork. • Keep crew vehicles clean and organized. • Excavate pits, install rod and rope conduits, and place underground cables. • Assist in directional bore operations and removal/replacement of concrete and asphalt. • Operate equipment and lift items up to 50 lb. • Read underground utility locates and follow safe digging practices. • Restore job sites to their original condition. • Maintain a healthy and safe work environment for crew, public, customers, and Ledcor.

The role involves performing day‑to‑day duties and operating equipment alongside crew members to complete work safely and efficiently under the direction of the foreperson. This position contributes to advancing telecommunications infrastructure in Calgary, AB. Candidates should have experience in underground utility construction, civil construction, or landscaping, and be capable of reading telecommunications plans and work maps. Proficiency in operating and maintaining mini‑excavators, skid steers, and backhoes is required, along with strong time‑management, technical aptitude, quick learning, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Clear written communication, a clean driver’s abstract, and successful completion of pre‑employment drug and alcohol testing are also essential. The role requires travel to various sites throughout the Calgary area and involves working outdoors in a range of weather conditions.
