About the Role

The role focuses on creating and implementing sourcing strategy for MG in India, covering new part development, resourcing existing parts, localization, and VAVE to achieve material cost reduction, while managing material inflation/deflation and supporting the materials team for production and inventory control. The incumbent will develop and deploy regional commodity strategies with category leaders to deliver year‑over‑year cost reductions, identify and qualify suppliers against quality, cost, delivery and inventory criteria, monitor commodity trends, and maintain detailed cost structures for each part. Key duties include supporting strategic suppliers to improve scorecards and risk profiles, mapping supplier capacity, negotiating total‑cost‑of‑ownership agreements, analyzing spend to uncover cost‑out opportunities, leading VA/VE projects with engineering, co‑owning project monitoring through part stabilization, and collaborating with SDE on capacity improvement and new manufacturing technologies. • Develop and execute regional commodity strategies to achieve YoY cost reductions. • Identify and qualify suppliers for quality, cost, delivery, and inventory control (including Kanban, VMI, consignment). • Monitor commodity market trends and maintain detailed should‑cost and cost‑sheet data. • Support strategic suppliers in scorecard improvement, capability assessment, and risk management. • Map supplier capacity and expand the supply base to meet variable production volumes. • Negotiate total cost of ownership agreements and analyze spend for cost‑out opportunities. • Lead VA/VE initiatives with engineering/design to reduce material costs. • Co‑own project monitoring with SDE until part stabilization and handover to Materials. • Collaborate with SDE on capacity improvements and adoption of new manufacturing technologies. • Foster a high‑performance, continuous‑improvement culture. • Wiring harnesses and bus bars.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Production or Automobile Engineering, possess 6–8 years of sourcing, supplier development and procurement experience in an engineering or auto‑component environment, and have 3–4 years of hands‑on product costing and commercial contract formulation. Strong familiarity with incoterms, total cost of ownership, excellent English communication skills, and the ability to work across internal and external functions in a matrix organization are essential. • Mechanical and electrical assemblies; proprietary auto‑electric parts (switches, sensors, valves, pumps, motors). • Automotive hydraulic and pneumatic components. • Stampings and sheet‑metal parts. • Metal bar stocks. • Plastic and rubber components. • 6–8 years sourcing and supplier development experience in an engineering or auto‑component firm. • 3–4 years product costing and commercial contract formulation. • Familiarity with incoterms and total cost of ownership analysis. • Excellent written and verbal English communication. • Ability to work across internal and external cross‑functional teams in a matrix organization.
