About the Role

The Engineering Operations team is seeking a qualified Civil Engineer III to join the civil engineering design group. The role involves developing civil permit and construction drawings for new and existing substations, including grading plans, storm drainage, erosion control, and other civil elements. A solid understanding of state and local storm‑water regulations, building codes, and industry standards is essential, as is experience with civil calculations, reports, specifications, and cost estimates. Effective verbal and written communication with diverse audiences and a basic knowledge of electrical substation assembly are also valuable. The engineer will apply broad civil and structural expertise to substation design and construction, solving complex issues through advanced analytical techniques and non‑standard solutions. Flexibility to adapt to shifting budgets and priorities, resilience, and a collaborative, optimistic attitude are required, along with a commitment to PSE’s safety culture and compliance standards. The position is classified as safety‑sensitive and requires pre‑employment drug screening. PSE expects all employees to conduct business ethically, honor core values, and meet regulatory compliance obligations. • Hold a BS degree or PE license in a relevant engineering discipline. • Possess 5+ years of experience in planning, design, specifications, field work, cost estimating, and scheduling. • Demonstrate strong organization, documentation, prioritization, and project management abilities. • Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills. • Have utility industry experience. • Be familiar with utility system codes and equipment. • Possess a Professional Engineering license (preferred). • Know engineering economics and utility accounting practices. • Experience on complex engineering projects.

Benefits
Compensation ranges from $94,300 to $156,900, with eligibility for annual incentive bonuses.
