Transportation Intern

About the Role

Interns will collaborate with the public transit team, contributing to projects that improve mobility, safety, and accessibility through rail, bus rapid transit, and zero‑emission solutions, helping to transform urban landscapes and reduce environmental impact. • Prepare simple engineering and construction drawings from sketches or verbal instructions using manual or CAD techniques. • Create drawings from markups, charts, and tables. • Perform quantity calculations based on engineering plans. • Update computer lists, file prints, distribute drawings, conduct basic calculations, and proofread reports. • Support field assignments, including construction inspections and structural condition assessments. • Work in varied weather conditions as needed.

What You Bring

GFT is seeking an Intern to join our Transportation Team in Ottawa. The position follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at the Ottawa office. The position is full‑time, based in Toronto, Ontario, and is open only to local candidates. Sponsorship for Canadian work authorization and relocation assistance are not available. • Be an undergraduate student enrolled in an accredited Engineering program. • Demonstrate ability to work effectively in a team. • Communicate technical ideas clearly in person and in writing. • Show independent initiative, creative problem‑solving, eagerness to learn, and dedication to teamwork.
