About the Role
The Welder position joins various metal components using multiple welding processes in accordance with site specifications and national codes. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting blueprints, weld symbols, and welding procedure specifications, performing GTAW, SMAW, FACW, GMAW and mixed‑type welds, and field‑installing structural, duct, and pipe welds. The role requires collaboration with other trades, adherence to safety programs, and the ability to work under production‑schedule pressure and overtime as needed. • Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, welding symbols, and WPS documents. • Perform GTAW, SMAW, FACW, GMAW, and mixed‑type welds per project requirements. • Field‑install structural, duct, and pipe welds, including stainless steel and carbon pipe. • Select appropriate filler materials according to welding procedures. • Prepare welding surfaces and ensure proper joint details. • Assist pipe fitters with measurements, material prep, and installation tasks. • Collaborate with other trades and follow direction from foremen or higher‑skilled workers. • Adhere to MIC Health and Safety programs and participate in daily toolbox meetings. • Maintain precise accuracy and follow set procedures and standards. • Travel up to 90 % to project sites, with occasional travel to residence.
