About the Role
In this role you will contribute to the success of our Operations team by monitoring, adjusting and maintaining equipment throughout various units in the Primary Upgrading Area at our Horizon facility. You will be the central point of control for complex process units, making real‑time decisions that impact production reliability, environmental performance and the safety of people and assets. • Follow and improve Standard Operating Procedures; participate in safety audits. • Provide clear written and oral hand‑overs to relieving shift and technicians. • Safely operate, monitor, adjust and maintain process parameters across Primary Upgrading units. • Troubleshoot and resolve operating issues affecting safety, reliability, or production.

What You Bring
Safety is a core value; you must exhibit a proactive attitude, high work standards and the ability to work at heights of 100 + feet in extreme climates. You will follow, review and improve Standard Operating Procedures, participate in safety audits and maintain a safe work environment. Effective hand‑overs through written and oral communication to the relieving shift and technicians are required. You will safely operate, monitor, adjust and maintain process parameters across Primary Upgrading units, and develop competencies to troubleshoot issues that affect safety, reliability or production. You need experience in a control‑room setting with DCS operation, preferably Delta V, and at least five years of DCS panel experience in a refinery, petrochemical or oil‑sands upgrading facility, especially with heavy‑oil units such as Diluent Recovery, Vacuum Distillation or Delayed Coking. A minimum 3rd Class Power Engineering Certification, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid Class 5 driver’s licence are required. Commissioning or start‑up experience with heavy‑oil equipment is an asset but not mandatory. All candidates must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions; only candidates under consideration will be contacted. • Operate DCS (preferably Delta V) with at least five years experience in refinery, petrochemical or oil‑sands upgrading. • Hold a Minimum 3rd Class Power Engineering Certification and a valid Class 5 driver’s licence. • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
