About the Role

This role offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing the engineer to split time between the office and remote work from home while collaborating within a project team of engineers and designers on high voltage substation projects. The Substation Electrical Engineer will actively participate in project conceptualization, work planning, and execution, tackling challenging assignments that involve investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving a wide range of electrical engineering issues, as well as preparing clear, concise technical reports that meet client and S&L formatting requirements. • Design of medium‑voltage power systems. • Prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints. • Track project schedules, expenditures, and prepare status reports. • Review and critique design drawings created by others. • Prepare grounding, shielding, battery, and charger sizing calculations. • Develop single‑line, relaying, metering, DC schematics, and grounding plans.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a BSEE from an ABET‑accredited program and possess at least seven years of experience designing medium‑voltage power systems, with strong abilities to prioritize work, manage multiple projects within budget and schedule constraints, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Experience reviewing design drawings and proficiency with Microsoft Office are also required, while additional experience with 138 kV‑plus substation design, grounding calculations, and familiarity with ANSI/IEEE/NEMA standards are valued. • 7+ years relevant engineering experience. • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. • Proficient with MS Office applications. • 3+ years experience designing substations 138 kV and above (preferred). • Familiar with ANSI/IEEE/NEMA standards and National Electrical Safety Code (ANSI‑C2). • Professional Engineer (PE) license (desired). • AutoCAD proficiency (desired).
