About the Role
The Senior Project Engineer will manage a small project or a component of a large or more complex project with oversight, applying JE Dunn processes and tools to manage project management, administration and field execution, supporting the company’s strategy, vision and values. Autonomy and Decision Making: Makes decisions on assigned area on responsibility, provides recommendations to supervisor and refers all exceptions to supervisor, as needed. • Perform assigned aspects of safety and quality plans, mentoring others toward an injury‑free environment. • Coordinate with project QA/QC planning to ensure quality for assigned tasks. • Participate in estimating and change management, including quantity take‑off and subcontractor proposal review. • Monitor crew size, self‑perform hours, materials, quantity and equipment on site. • Handle punch lists, city inspections, safety and quality reviews, and related documentation. • Post the most recent drawings and specifications. • Organize and attend project meetings, preparing and distributing required documentation. • Prepare daily, weekly, and unit reports, percentage complete, manpower, production schedules, and equipment tracking. • Conduct job site observations with project leadership. • Create procurement logs, track shop drawings, and follow up on deliveries. • Provide progress updates to support scheduling. • Oversee project close‑out, including punch lists, O&M manuals, and as‑built drawings. • Utilize company best practice standards for building and construction techniques. • Build relationships and communication with tradespeople, foremen, superintendents, and subcontractors. • Collaborate and demonstrate teamwork in project settings. • Implement Lean practices into regular activities. • Identify, develop, and integrate self‑perform opportunities. • Lead preparation of estimates for base project, self‑perform work, and change requests; establish scopes and identify subcontractors. • Make decisions on selection of subcontractors and vendors. • Coordinate approved purchase orders for timing, delivery, product changes, and repairs. • Support and complete job set‑up and project administration in CMiC and other technologies. • Lead the submittal process to align with the project schedule. • Prepare and manage the project schedule, outlining work plan and sequence for assigned portions. • Analyze and report production statistics for key project components. • Manage project risks such as subcontractor performance, financials, and resource allocation. • Coordinate various meetings including pre‑planning, post‑construction, monthly reviews, progress, and OAC meetings. • Review and approve monthly subcontractor and vendor pay applications. • Initiate conversations about potential issues to foster collaborative problem solving. • Lead project close‑out, managing punch lists, quality and cost control, and scheduling inspections. • Provide training and mentorship to others. • Build relationships with team members beyond a single project. • Assess and optimize project productivity. • Lead teams and achieve production goals. • Collaborate within internal and external teams.

What You Bring
• Demonstrate understanding of company functions and their contribution to project success. • Understand terms and conditions of owner contracts and subcontracts. • Perform work accurately, completely, and timely. • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. • Proficient in Microsoft Office. • Understand organizational structure and available resources. • Apply fundamentals of construction management means and methods. • Know project processes and how they support successful completion. • Proficient in project management and accounting software. • Proficient in required construction technology. • Knowledge of Lean process and philosophy. • Knowledge of self‑perform and labor productivity. • Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work. • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field, or equivalent experience. • 3+ years construction experience. • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. • May require periods of travel and/or relocation. • Willing to work non‑traditional hours to meet project needs. • Frequent activities: standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder, pushing, pulling. • Occasional activities: sitting, viewing computer screen.
