About the Role
The Process Operator will monitor, adjust and maintain equipment across various units in the Primary Upgrading Area. The role offers exposure to a range of process equipment, with the potential to progress to a main control‑room operator after gaining the required competencies. Safety is a core value; operators must follow and improve Standard Operating Procedures, participate in safety audits and maintain a safe work environment in all weather conditions, including extreme cold and heights of over 100 feet. • Follow, review and improve Standard Operating Procedures; participate in safety audits and programs. • Provide clear written and oral shift turn‑over communications covering routine and non‑routine issues. • Operate, monitor, adjust and maintain process equipment to meet production targets and product specifications. • Sample hydrocarbons and boiler‑feed water, record and analyze unit data, and adjust parameters accordingly. • Identify equipment deficiencies, initiate maintenance work requests and prepare assets using Lock Out/Tag Out standards. • Issue and authorize Safe Work Permits for qualified units. • Troubleshoot and resolve operating issues that impact safety, reliability or production.

What You Bring
Effective communication is required for shift turn‑over, providing written and oral updates on routine and non‑routine issues, unit conditions and any problems encountered. The position requires a minimum of three years’ experience in refinery, petro‑chemical or oil‑sands upgrading facilities, preferably with heavy‑oil or crude‑distillation units, and familiarity with DCS platforms such as Delta V or Honeywell. Candidates must hold at least a 4th Class Power Engineering certification (3rd Class preferred), a high‑school diploma or equivalent, and a valid Class 5 driver’s licence. • Prioritize safety and demonstrate a proactive work ethic in all climates and at heights over 100 feet. • Minimum 3 years experience in refinery, petro‑chemical or oil‑sands upgrading, preferably heavy‑oil/crude distillation, diluent recovery, vacuum distillation or delayed coking. • Experience operating a control‑room DCS (Delta V preferred; Honeywell acceptable) and basic commissioning/start‑up exposure. • 4th Class Power Engineering certification (3rd Class preferred). • High school diploma or equivalent and a valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
