About the Role
The role involves inspecting vessels and peripheral equipment before each voyage to ensure safe, efficient operation and compliance with regulations and company policies. The employee utilizes navigational equipment, weather forecasts, and tide/current predictions to safeguard the vessel and crew, and may operate the vessel in oceans, bays, lakes, rivers, or coastal waters when authorized. They also collaborate with supervisors to adjust float and work plans according to changing environmental conditions and direct crew activities while deployed. Key responsibilities include deploying, towing, and anchoring containment booms and other spill‑response equipment, keeping all job‑related gear in ready condition, and maintaining up‑to‑date vessel logs and inspections. The employee provides clear safety directions to deckhands and passengers, conducts continuous training in safety, seamanship, and basic navigation, and leads onboard safety drills. They also complete required paperwork such as customer and vessel logbooks, charts, EPA discharge logs, placards, and labeling, and may perform general work, confined‑space entry, spill response, and industrial maintenance as directed. • Deploy, tow, and anchor containment boom and spill‑response equipment as needed. • Ensure all job‑related equipment is maintained in good working order and ready for deployment. • Document and update vessel logs, inspections, and regulatory paperwork. • Direct deckhands and passengers to ensure safety during navigational hazards and events. • Provide continuous training in safety, seamanship, and basic navigation techniques. • Conduct onboard safety drills and emergency response exercises. • Complete required paperwork including customer logbooks, vessel logbooks, charts, EPA discharge logs, placards, and labeling. • Perform general work, confined‑space entry, spill response, and industrial maintenance as assigned. • Maintain knowledge of vessel operation, navigation, electrical and mechanical systems. • Prioritize tasks, stay focused, and manage multiple responsibilities to meet deadlines. • Participate in comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits. • Access health care and dependent care spending accounts.

What You Bring
Candidates must have at least one year of maritime experience, a valid driver’s license meeting business‑driving standards, and knowledge of vessel operation, navigation, electrical and mechanical systems. Preferred qualifications include strong accuracy, attention to detail, ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and possession or willingness to obtain certifications such as TWIC, MMC, state HAZWOPER, CPR/First Aid, Marine Crane Operator, and Cold‑Water Survival. Demonstrated commitment to safety and the ability to work efficiently under deadlines are essential. • Exhibit accuracy, thoroughness, and strong attention to detail. • Hold or obtain required certifications such as TWIC, MMC, state HAZWOPER, CPR/First Aid, Marine Crane Operator, and Cold‑Water Survival. • Possess at least one year of maritime industry experience and a valid driver’s license meeting business‑driving standards.
