About the Role
Mortenson is seeking a Project Manager II to lead project quality, timeliness, and safety while mentoring the team. The role also focuses on developing and enhancing customer relationships through excellent service. The Project Manager II will oversee the overall financial health of projects, managing subcontracts, suppliers, and developing financial projections. Responsibilities include allocating project estimates in the financial system, determining cost codes, approving invoices, and providing billing information to Accounting for timely payment. Monthly owner billings and contract management tasks such as buyouts are also part of the role. Leadership duties involve guiding Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers, assigning work, and supporting career development. The manager will approve timecards, give performance feedback, and act as the primary point of contact with owners and on‑site representatives, addressing agreement reviews and site concerns. Executing change orders, maintaining schedule and budget, and ensuring quality, risk, safety, and compliance until project completion are essential responsibilities. • Manage project financials, subcontracts, and supplier relationships. • Develop and maintain financial projections; allocate estimates in the financial system. • Determine cost codes, approve invoices, and provide billings to Accounting. • Create monthly owner billings and oversee contract buyouts. • Oversee budget and select trade partners and suppliers. • Lead and mentor Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers; assign work and support career development. • Approve timecards and give performance feedback to on‑site staff. • Serve as primary liaison with owners and on‑site representatives; review agreements and resolve site issues. • Execute change orders and obtain customer or architect approvals. • Maintain project schedule, budget, quality, risk, safety, and compliance through completion. • Understand and apply Mortenson policies, EEO, inclusive behaviors, and affirmative action plans.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in construction, civil, architectural engineering, or construction management, or possess equivalent experience, and have a current driver’s license. The position requires up to 100% travel and at least ten years of construction management experience on large projects ($20M+). Desired skills include detail orientation, basic construction law knowledge, intermediate Microsoft Office and project software proficiency, and strong communication and active listening abilities. • Hold a bachelor's degree in construction, civil, architectural engineering, or construction management (or equivalent experience). • Possess a valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100%. • Demonstrate ten years of construction management experience on large projects ($20M+). • Exhibit strong detail orientation, basic construction law knowledge, and intermediate Microsoft Office and project software skills.

Benefits
The base salary range is $132,100 to $198,200, with higher ranges for select locations, and eligibility for Mortenson’s incentive plan. Compensation is positioned based on knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
