About the Role
The engineer ensures BHS design and construction meet technical requirements, conducts design and sub‑mission reviews, and evaluates contractor proposals for feasibility and alignment with GTAA standards. They coordinate technical elements, establish governance processes, schedule design reviews, and manage interfaces with other engineering and architectural disciplines. Throughout construction they monitor RFIs, shop drawings, material approvals and punch‑list items, and deliver management‑level progress reports and briefings. • Act as GTAA client representative on large‑scale BHS projects. • Provide expert guidance during planning, design, testing and commissioning of baggage handling systems. • Ensure compliance with codes, standards and GTAA technical requirements through design and submittal reviews. • Evaluate contractor proposals for feasibility and alignment with program goals. • Establish governance, processes and procedures to manage GTAA‑contractor interfaces. • Coordinate design reviews and integrate engineering and architectural disciplines across programs. • Monitor construction documentation (RFIs, shop drawings, material approvals, mock‑ups, punch lists). • Deliver management‑level progress reports and briefings on structural design and issues. • Coach, mentor and support the career development of GTAA staff.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a recognized degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial or related engineering, with a professional designation considered an asset. A minimum of 15 years of BHS engineering experience at major international airports and at least 5 years on large capital programs is required. Expertise in BHS design, simulation, commissioning, HMI/PLC/SCADA systems, risk management, data‑analytics‑driven problem solving and senior stakeholder engagement is essential. • Hold a recognized engineering degree (mechanical, electrical, industrial or related) with a professional designation valued. • Minimum 15 years BHS engineering experience at major international airports and 5 years on large capital programs. • Expertise in BHS design, simulation, commissioning, HMI/PLC/SCADA systems and risk management. • Strong technical problem‑solving skills using data analytics and stakeholder management. • Proven knowledge of system safety requirements, applicable codes and regulations.
