Digital Buildings Consultant

About the Role

The Digital Buildings Consultant leads consulting and systems‑engineering projects within the Digital Building Services Group. The role is responsible for delivering services that meet the Scope of Work, proposals, and client‑side documents such as Business Requirements Documents, while upholding the highest standards of technical performance, honesty and integrity. In addition to client‑facing duties, the consultant acts as a technical lead and team mentor, supporting the development of colleagues and contributing to the growth of the Digital Building Services team and the broader FPC business. • Deliver consultancy and engineering services in line with proposals, SOWs, and engagement letters. • Understand and develop client requirements, building and managing positive stakeholder relationships. • Advise and collaborate on digital building system integration, technologies, processes, and standards. • Design and review digital building architectures to optimize performance, functionality, and value. • Produce technical, service delivery, and project reports as required. • Implement standards, best practices, and guidelines to ensure consistency across projects. • Maintain expertise on industry trends and developments in digital building technologies. • Represent FPC professionally, achieving high customer satisfaction. • Contribute to the Digital Building Services team’s development and FPC’s business objectives. • Manage workload, communicate and escalate issues, and comply with all FPC policies and procedures. • Identify revenue opportunities and support business development activities. • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for the business line.

What You Bring

• Minimum 5 years experience in digital building and IoT industry, with a proven track record as consultant, designer or SME. • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Controls, Engineering, Computer Science or related field. • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including meeting participation, document writing and presentations. • Technical expertise in digital building systems integration (controls strategies, specifications, architectures, schematics, point naming, etc.). • Experience with BMS, automation, lighting controls, AV systems, and protocols such as BACnet, MQTT, Modbus, LON, DALI, etc. • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and IP networking (IPv4/IPv6, switching, routing, DHCP, Wi‑Fi, structured cabling). • Ability to conduct system audits and on‑site surveys. • Experience working in design teams on client requirements, technical submittals, SOW and specification development. • Proficiency with Google Suite or Microsoft Office; additional skills in cloud platforms, data analytics, AutoCAD/BIM/Visio, and construction contracting are advantageous.
