About the Role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer – Battery Team will work in a hybrid capacity from Towson, MD, joining the T&O organization. The role focuses on electromechanical assemblies and lithium‑ion battery packs, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to qualify components, develop second‑source suppliers, and launch time‑critical products. Key duties include evaluating and implementing engineering change orders, performing structural and thermal finite‑element analyses, conducting tolerance stack‑ups, DFMEA/PFMEA, and creating process control plans. The engineer will design parts using 3D CAD (CATIA V5), release detailed 2D drawings, manage BOMs in the PLM system, and work closely with suppliers, the model shop, and contract manufacturers to prototype and build products. • Evaluate, approve, and implement engineering change orders for electromechanical assemblies and battery packs. • Qualify alternate battery cells, electronic modules, and develop second‑source suppliers for subcomponents. • Perform Finite Element structural and thermal analyses; manage tolerance stack‑ups, DFMEA, PFMEA, and process control plans. • Design parts using 3D CAD (CATIA V5), release 2D detailed drawings, and create/manage BOMs in PLM from prototype to mass production. • Collaborate with ID, marketing, manufacturing, compliance, safety, purchasing, test, and supply chain teams to meet product CTQs. • Write test plans, develop fixtures, and conduct lab testing with power supplies, oscilloscopes, electronic loads, applying DOE methods.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (MSME preferred) and has 3‑5 years of experience developing Li‑Ion battery packs and Battery Management Systems. Required skills include strong proficiency in 3D modeling, GD&T, plastic and metal component design, PCB familiarity, analytical problem‑solving, and excellent communication for interfacing with customers and suppliers. • Hold a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (MSME preferred) with 3–5 years of Li‑Ion battery pack and BMS product development experience. • Proficient in 3D modeling, GD&T, tolerance analysis, plastic and metal component design, and familiar with PCB design. • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and multi‑project management skills. • Able to travel domestically and internationally for supplier development and contract manufacturing.
