About the Role
The Service Manager – Commercial Roofing reports to the Operating Unit President and is an exempt position with a base salary of $100K+ plus performance bonus eligibility. Direct reports include a Service Superintendent and Service Coordinators, and the role works closely with the Service Estimator–Sales. Its purpose is to lead and strengthen the service department’s operating system, ensuring disciplined planning, work‑in‑process management, scope control, customer commitments, and day‑to‑day execution while supporting growth in service and maintenance. Core responsibilities encompass ownership of the service backlog and WIP, establishing a weekly planning cadence, enforcing service scope standards, providing execution leadership for field and office teams, managing the end‑to‑end customer experience, and driving financial performance through margin stewardship and timely closeout. The manager also enables near‑term service growth by supporting selective estimating, defining service offerings, and building the framework for future estimator‑sales integration. The role demands compliance with all workplace health and safety policies, active participation in risk identification and mitigation, prompt reporting of incidents, and promotion of a safety‑first culture through leadership and communication. • Own the service backlog and work‑in‑process, planning weekly labor, materials, and customer priorities. • Run a weekly planning cadence, identify aging tickets and bottlenecks, and resolve them proactively. • Establish and enforce service scope standards; review and approve scopes before scheduling. • Lead the Service Superintendent and Coordinators, ensure crews are properly planned and supported, and conduct site visits for quality and safety. • Manage the customer experience from proposal acceptance through closeout, providing timely updates and handling escalations. • Drive service margin performance through efficient labor, scope control, timely billing, and accurate documentation; track key KPIs. • Support near‑term estimating and customer development, help define service offerings, pricing logic, and repeatable programs for future sales support.

What You Bring
Required experience includes commercial roofing or comparable construction/service leadership, a strong grasp of service execution, scheduling, and field operations, and proven ability to plan work, manage WIP, enforce standards, prioritize tasks, and hold others accountable in a high‑volume environment. Preferred qualifications are experience leading an established service team, exposure to service estimating or sales support, and familiarity with CRM, scheduling, and job‑cost tracking tools. Work occurs in both office and field settings, involving typical office equipment and periodic exposure to jobsite conditions such as noise, temperature variations, ladders, and construction materials. Physical effort includes sitting, standing, walking, repetitive typing, and occasional lifting of materials up to 50 pounds. Local travel is required for customer visits and jobsite reviews, with typical hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, though availability outside normal business hours may be needed. • Required: commercial roofing or comparable construction/service leadership, strong service execution and scheduling expertise, proven WIP planning and standards enforcement. • Preferred: experience leading an established service team, exposure to service estimating or sales support, familiarity with CRM and job‑cost tools.
