About the Role

The Data Engineer role involves designing, delivering, and optimizing data platforms across a variety of projects, directly supporting AECOM’s mission of innovative and sustainable solutions. The engineer works closely with Data Analysts, Data Scientists, and cross‑functional digital teams, and may also contribute to feature engineering, exploratory analysis, or model operationalization. Key responsibilities include developing scalable solutions, managing end‑to‑end data pipelines (ingestion, transformation, modeling, integration), and ensuring performance, security, governance, and quality standards are met. The engineer collaborates with analysts, scientists, architects, and project managers, upholds engineering best practices, implements monitoring and alerting, troubleshoots complex issues, and continuously explores new cloud capabilities and modern data‑stack tools while fostering knowledge‑sharing within the team. • Design, build, and optimize scalable cloud‑based data platforms. • Develop and maintain end‑to‑end data pipelines (ingestion, transformation, modeling, integration). • Ensure solutions meet performance, security, governance, and quality standards. • Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, architects, and project managers to gather requirements. • Implement engineering best practices: code quality, testing, CI/CD, and documentation. • Manage metadata, access controls, data lineage, and PII protection. • Create monitoring, alerting, and reliability strategies for data solutions. • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and data‑related issues. • Explore and prototype new cloud services and modern data‑stack tools. • Promote knowledge‑sharing and standardization within the data team.
