About the Role
In this role the principal guides the team, oversees project budgets and schedules, and ensures deliverables comply with ECS QA/QC policies. They also interact with clients to communicate findings and support business development activities. • Mentor junior staff and associate principals to develop team capabilities. • Attend project meetings and resolve technical and administrative issues. • Market ECS services and maintain/expand the client database. • Oversee project budgets, change orders, invoices, and assist with collections. • Prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects to meet deadlines. • Review and approve proposals, change orders, environmental reports, and deliverables according to ECS policies. • Lead client discussions, present findings, and ensure proper project setup and implementation. • Apply extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local wetland regulations to studies. • Supervise fieldwork, conduct site visits, and enforce QA/QC standards. • Provide leadership by example and through mentorship of staff.

What You Bring
ECS is looking for an experienced Environmental Principal who will ensure quality and performance goals are met, delegate to senior staff, and act as the final reviewer on projects. The ideal candidate demonstrates a positive customer‑service attitude and lives by ECS Core Values. Candidates must hold a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree, possess extensive experience in environmental consulting, and be licensed in one of the recognized professional designations. Prior experience as a Principal at ECS or a comparable firm is required. • Hold a BS/MS in Civil, Environmental Engineering, Natural/Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field. • Minimum 12 years of relevant experience (16+ years can substitute education). • Licensed professional (PE, PG, REM, CIH, CHMM, PWS, CSP, LSS, CIE, REPA, or CEM). • Prior Principal designation at ECS or equivalent firm. • Deep understanding of environmental principles, permitting processes, regulations, and test methods. • Strong client management and business development skills.
